Interesting although NOD32 did top one of the tests - not the whole thing - and as a result Kaspersky did better. Still I haven't seen such a test before - the one where NOD32 ties for the lead is pretty standard but the subsequent ones are not. Thanks for posting.

While I was a member at Wilders Security forums, we had an interesting discussion there is why does Kaspersky always ace any virus lab testing but most of the PCs and many on those forums get to repair from Malware infections most of the time actually did have Kaspersky AV or IS installed?

Someone there said that Kaspersky puts all its efforts to make its AV look great in testing, but in the real world it isn't as great as it sounds. Another thing I don't like about Kaspersky is the fact that they don't enable PUP detections by default, you have to go to the settings and turn that option on. What this means is, for the average Joe who just installs an AV and forgets about anything related to security thinking the AV will do its job, often gets malware injected by software that have PUPs in them. So yes it's not a virus, but it does cripple the machine by slowing it down or throwing random spam message to fix the PC or optimize it or what not, like My PC Optimizer or the BAIDU crap.

This is what I love about ESET is that they enable PUP detection by default during the installation and are very good when it comes to security by doing HTTP/HTTPS scanning so even if one tries to go to a malicious website, ESET will block it, and best of all, all this is done without the need for any annoying browser extensions to be installed. It is all on the system level.

NOTE: I stopped using Kaspersky or buying anything from them because I do format my PC a lot and with Kaspersky, 3 re-activations and your license is blacklisted. It would take no less than 7 working days for customer service to reset the activation limit after you submit all the proofs that you purchased it / receipts. I simply don't use any licensed program that limits me on how I use my PC.
