If you don't buy NOD32 you will make a huge mistake! There's even a free trial so you can try it out and if you like it (which you probably will) you can purchase it. It's great and it is by far the best AV program. I haven't tried out many different AV programs but NOD32 is great! Just Google for some reviews.

    Check the anti virus comparison.

I'm a Kasprsky fan, but they slipped and now ended up ins econd place :(

Avira is free and is doing very, very well compared to other paid for proucts.

NOD32 is the best paid option, but I'd still go for Avira free over NOD32.

I don't use an Antivirus, but I do use the freeware program Geswall.
I use Geswall to prevent any drive-by rogue websites from infecting my machine.
IMO, Geswall is better than a Antivirus because it does not require virus definition updates.
Geswall completely stops anything that tries to download from the internet.

    http://www.gentlesecurity.com/download.html

Disabling Active Scripting in the Internet Zone is my first layer of defense.
But there are a lot of sites I have in my Trusted Zone, such as this website, which can become infected and try to infect my machine.

Here is a video that shows how a website can infect you by just clicking on a link, or even viewing the website.
Typical Antivirus programs may not be able to stop these kinds of drive-by infections/downloads.

Yep, NOD32 is definitely the best paid AV program out there. Avira is without a doubt the best free program. Actually these softwares are pretty much the same but I'd still go for NOD32.

see i come from being a nod user for YEARS well before most people here or otherwise even knew what nod32 was. i come from the old school days of nod v1... eset has recently got huge. they never used to be especially in the usa and most places outside their home territory..

but after having stuff get through more times than i care to remember i switched. i went to kaspersky after that and a immediate install after removing nod led to 7 actual infections. i no longer now use kis either due to the huge bloat they added to the 2010 version..again nod is not bad and FAR from the worst you can get but people all over make it out to be the best thing since sliced bread and it just is not..

for more nod info see their official forum at wilders and make your own judgement imo

KIS 2010 despite what people say... It's solid and it's a real deal

Like this guy said on his video: If you can find me anything that passes Kaspersky, let me know.
He also said that he recommends Kasperrsky to all of his clients.

Here is something I got from his main page:

kis let rouges through also and simply put them in the low trusted area you would manually have to remove them. this is WAY to common with rouge's right now nod32 let a rouge though and ran it also

The new Norton AV is supposed to be good. Supposedly light on resources and has very good detection rates.....

all you need is malware bytes and super anti spyware and both are free. Nod was excellent but 4.0 got fat and i had compatability issues.

I dumped Symantec over NOD32 this year. I have 4000 users in my network, and I have no complain. I had sale rep who tried to convince me to go with Kaspersky, but I didn't really impress with the software.

    Norton IS
    Kaspersky IS
    ESET Nod32 IS

In that order. The only reason I suggest ESET last is because I seem to never see good price deals for it compared to the other two.

I liked the way current version of Norton IS performs. But have to stay with Kaspersky since it is the cheapest of the three I trust: Norton/Kaspersky/Eset.
Costs around 16 US$ for 3 user version where I stay.

WAO! How much RAM usage for KIS 2010?
Avira Antivir Personal 9 already 15-20MB usage of RAM. I can't imagine something even much lower.

    Well...

Kis 2010 = Kaspersk Internet Secutiy (so more than an anti virus) runs in two processes, one is "system" one the user.
the System process seems to vary - between 4000-19.000 KB - possibly depending on what the security suite does, the user proces for me sits just below 4000KB.

But as I said earlier - RAM usage is no criteria for a good/bad antivirus.
