I've finally decided to buy a license to some virus/spyware software, and was wondering what would be the best choice. Which software would be the most comprehensive with the least amount of bugs and the most compatibility. Also, I don't want to spend too much, I was thinking something like 29.99.....

Why spend money on AV/Spyware software, when you can get great protection for free! :D

All the 3 free AV's don't require purchasing, only sometimes renewal of a yearly license (like with Avast).
Have you tried using CCleaner to clean out your registry? (Just as a precaution, make a backup of your registry before deleting obsolete entries, CCleaner will offer you to make a backup during the registry cleaning process).
And may I ask which program is asking you to go for a paid-for version?
If you are willing to spend money, use the trial versions of Kaspersky AV, Norton AV and Avira Premium.
Test them for at least a couple of days each before purchasing, so you know which one you like best.

Norton Internet Security 2009 is quite good, so is Kaspersky. As Baserk recommended, try out the trial versions of them first (as well as Avira, AVG, Avast, etc) to see which one you like.
