Im looking for an anti-virus. I was using Norton, but it slowed up my PC especially on start-up. Any recommendations on what to use?
    Freeware or Cracked.
    Thanks

This is not the place to come to look for cracked software for any purpose. There are some decent options for free AV apps and also a lot of nice apps that cost <$20.

    http://www.grisoft.com

Kaspersky has some awesome stuff too, but expensive--look for free rebates (one of the best anti-virus programs out there and the only anti virus program that scans into memory too) http://www.kaspersky.com

Next time use the search feature found on the top right hand side. This topic has been covered many times before.

    I second that exactly.

    Links to both:
    AntiVir
    NOD32

NOD32, it's cheap and it's the best you can buy that is out on the market.

Free though, I don't think much could beat AVAST, but that's mainly because I haven't used AVG or AntiVir.

i third AntiVir - it scores the best detection rates out of all free AV products and takes up very few resources.

Antivir has the best detection rates out of any of the free AV software. It beats AVG, Avast, and even in some circumstances NOD32. Antivir also takes up very little resources.

using cracked software to protect your computer is pretty ghetto IMO.....how cheap can you be

kaspersky is good stuff, their internet security suite isnt bad.....I dont use anti virus much anymore but they do offer the most interesting programs

if you want something free learn how to setup an openBSD gateway to lockdown your network quite well, practical computing is what keeps your computer clean

i agree with this. i've trusted nod32 for a long time. It is very simple and extremely low on system resources.
