As you may or may not know, I use and bought Windows LiveOne Care a long time ago when I bought my laptop. At the time I wasn't sure if AVG, Avast or Avira had Vista support yet. I asked the BestBuy rep. if there were any choices besides the one he said, and he said no. My 2 choices were TrendMicro or WLOC. I went with WLOC because it was from MSFT and knew it would be a seemless integration into my OS. I installed it on my vista laptop and my xp desktop. Recently, when I DLed SP SP3, I've had problems updating or installing things, so my WLOC went out of whack. I uninstalled it and decided to try Avira which is all the rave. I first updated it and scanned my pc. The scan took almost 2 hours but it found 3 trojans and a malware where as WLOC didn't find squat. Avira is very low on resources and I love it so far. Should I uninstall WLOC and install Avira on my laptop although I paid a years subscription of it? It ends November 1st. I kind of don't want my money to go to waste...but am I being too cheap? Is this a sunk cost if I just continue using WLOC? Lol.

If WLOC isn't working, you might as well uninstall it.

Maybe you can use WLOC in a way where it's not constantly running, and just used it for an occasional scan.

It's good to scan with two different scanners sometimes.

PS. I'm very satisfied with Avira too, especially after disabling the popup.

Well I don't know if its "working" or not. I'm a pretty safe internet user and this pc is fairly new(under a year). My pc is quite fast and nimble as it is so idk.
Also, what's the BEST way to completely clean my pc of WLOC? I've read numerous problems ppl have trying to uninstall it...the MSFT forums are currently down atm, so I will check it later to see how to uninstall it. Some people said regular old control panel add/remove progs doesn't work. I'm probably going to use RevoUninstaller...however I'm scared of possible registry mistakes that revo does. I'll back up and restore if necessary. There's even a "OneCare Cleanup" app that does the job but not to sure what it does...I guess my question is directed to Calvin since he tried out WLOC and didn't like it. He uninstalled it. How did you go about uninstalling WLOC?

Well if you hardly take risks with suspicious files then one scanner will surely do.

I download the occasional program or hack of public trackers and they are notorious for malware.

I don't know WLOC specifically but here's how I would do it.

-First use ctrl-alt-del to kill any process of WLOC that is currently running.
-Then use the normal uninstall procedure (either form startmenu or configurationscreen)
-Then I use Ccleaner to see if anything was left, possibly in the start files.
