Sorry if this is a newbie question but, I have Norton Anti-Virus and Zone Alarm firewall on my laptop. I hook-up to the internet with a wireless Linksys router. The Linksys has a firewall and encrytion running on it.

Do I need ZoneAlarm when I have the Linksys firewall?

Nope. Most of the newer routers nowadays have a built-in firewall inside the router. It's firmware based, meaning it is already encoded into the chips inside the Linksys device. So you don't need Zone Alarm.

One word of advice, try not to use Zone Alarm. It confuses the heck out of the operating system. I also don't recommend Norton products, esp. the Anti-Virus as it takes up too much resources and delays your boot-up time. Go for the built-in Windows firewall instead. Or try avast! anti-virus (it has a very small footprint, not like Zone Alarm and NAV).
