    Hi all,

Today I ran my World of Warcraft launcher as per usual and it informed me of the new update patch for the Lich King Expansion. It probably isn't that new now but I haven't logged into WoW for over two weeks.

When I tried to launch the game from my Steam shortcut, Kaspersky pops up with a warning that it has detected the Blizzard launcher using similar activity to a Worm.P2P.Generic thingy and blocks it. I'm not that experienced with Kaspersky as I downloaded and installed it from an online purchase and don't have a manual.

Any ideas or solutions? It's only happened since the new Blizzard patch install.

If the patch is directly from Steam, then it's most likely a false alarm from Kaspersky.

it's WoW. i'd detect that as virus, too.

but seriously, i guess it's a false alarm.

If you download a patch from the Blizzard WOW launcher it actually downloads most of it p2p in addition to dedicated servers that could be why its throwing off kapersky. I think its blizzard way of saving bandwidth and money but I could be wrong.

Edit: Look under the options in the launcher and turn off peer downloading and see if it still gives you the warning.

I tried but the box with the check mark in is greyed out so I can't remove the tick. :(
This is the full retail version too.
