I can't really find an objective discussion of the latest Kaspersky vs Eset Smart Security resource usage. As someone who used to always work on a low-end machine, this is a great concern to me, even though now I have 4 gb of ram :). So which is it? Thanks. (NOTE: I am not comparing which is better, rather which uses less system resources).

I don't know about the ESET smart security, but my NOD32 anti-virus is showing about 32MB of RAM.

i dont knw abt the Internet Security suites of both Kaspersky and Nod32... but among the AV suites of both (i.e. KAV 2009 and ESET NOD32 AV v3), surprisingly kaspersky had a low resourse usage of 24MB while Nod32 used 31MB. Both had all functions running, and heuristics/real-time monitoring set to high.

smart security has two running processes.. egui.exe and ekrn.exe. one uses 2996k and the other 38180k..both show 0 on cpu usage. It's quite light and I don't feel any performance differences. The firewall works very well, but never had any problems with it blocking things it shouldn't.
