    Hello all,

Is there anyone here that uses Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 (or Pure Total Security) with Windows 7 64 bit and can share his/her experience with it? I am particularly interested in its resource usage, but I would like to hear anything you have to say about it. I use Windows 7 Professional, if that matters.

    Thanks!

Costco forced me to accept a 'free' copy (1 year) in order to buy a new PC. Since I had to pay tax on the freebie, I intend to return it unopened and get my $1.60 or so back. I'll use MSE.

I haven't personally used Kapersky, though I've seen it on my friends computers I was asked to clean up of bloat and other unnecessary garbage.
Now, their computers are more than fine, and while they certainly experienced a boost upon bloat removal, once Kapersky was removed and replaced with something else (such as MSE), the systems experienced further increase in 'snappiness' and overall responsiveness (although granted, I do leave an open mind to the possibility it was a placebo effect).

I don't really mess around with paid AV's.
In my opinion, it's a waste of time and money (especially when we have quality free AV's such as MSE, Avira and Avast that do the job just as good, without bogging down the system).

However, each user is different in their perception and needs, so if you see Kapersky as good, then use it.

I have been using it for a couple of years and i get it free from my bank with internet banking, and it is a super cpu hog when it is scanning 90% on an i3-380m, on anything less it`s 100% and the notebook is unusable , also the scanning time on a full scan can be hours, but i am still using it as i have not had any virus problems since i started using it.

I also got the android version for free from my bank also, I have tried it twice in my Samsung Galaxy S2 dual core, and it has 40-50% cpu usage when scanning and the cpu heats up to 46c+ and the phone back get hot :(

So i have installed it, I am now using the free webroot for android.

Kaspersky products are not resource hogs and work great. I can even work while doing a scan. Yes there are some settings that need to be tweaked but once you run a full system scan you will be cook'n with gas :)
