    Just Installed the 2016 version.

Does anybody know how to get the firewall to ask if a program should be allowed to access the network, but only once and then let it connect every time without asking.

In Avast Pro it`s easy to set the firewall to ask.

    thanks

    john.

I can't remember as it's been a while since I used it, but shouldn't it have like an automatic mode (default) and an interactive mode? Check in the firewall configuration.

Indeed it does. The main settings window does have a manual/automatic event handling option. Once manual, the first firewall event for each different connection permission query does give multiple options to choose from, including an always allow option.

I get 2 free licences for Kaspersky from my online banking, So i decided to give it a ago the other day, It would not allow me to view my Google UK website, it said it was insecure, It blocked my from accessing the hdd connected to my router with my files on it, and i could not work out how to unblock it.

But with Avast there is no problems, I can set it to ask if any new software wants to connect to the internet, and i say yes or no, and it remembers my choice, Kaspersky just blocks without asking me.

That's a rather odd set of symptoms. I checked Google UK just in case there was something happening with Google's certificates but everything was working as expected. You should also test different browsers to find whether your particular choice is misbehaving. Also, accessing a drive connected to your router shouldn't pose any issue, I do manage to do so on my similar setup.

The drive access issue can be fixed through configuring firewall rules (default works for most but your case seemed to fall under the exception) while the Google issue can be fixed by either modifying network SSL and scanned port settings or by installing the Kaspersky certificate for your specific browser. I should note that my personal experience with mainstream browsers as well as custom ones did work without needing to install the certificate but I've had to install it on some computers whose users actively used the entire Google service set.

Just bought a 2 year license for KAV. Seems light with the 2017 version

also, it now comes with Kaspersky Secure Connection and says it is powered by Hotspot Shield. I wonder if this is a trial or goes along the validity of the license.

I uninstalled it though as I have a good VPN myself but it's a nice addition if it was free with the AV license

I noticed that when I installed it because I quickly was told in a pop up about an additional license. I just bought new licenses myself for the next year as I have many devices to be covered. Now to get the licenses for the OSes for my benchmarking...

Interesting, I though the 200MB would be per week/month. Glad to know for reference, although the base amount is still rather restrictive.
