    I just went to get a new dat file and it says that my license is expired.??? I have the free personal edition. Doesn't this last forever, or is there something I have to do periodically? Any help would be great. Thanks.

    It should always be free, have you tried updating or reinstalling?

    What is the duration of the current license from TeeJay44's suggestion? Does avira keep releasing updated licenses after the old one expires and will it work if avira is installed on two computers?

    1 year.
    From Avira Free FAQ;
    "...In order to extend the license without reinstalling the product, please download the current license file.
    If you save it directly in the directory C:\Program Files\Avira AntiVir Personal\, Updates are available again."

    " The free license for Avira AntiVir Personal covers personal use exclusively. The use in communities, associations, churches etc. is not included."; as long as it is for personal use, it's okay.
    You'll probably have to use a different email address for an extra license.
    Cheers.

    Avira takes forever to load when I reboot and tired of a full screen ad for the retail version every time it updates.

    I think I will go back to AVG

    Uninstall Avira properly and reinstall it as it shouldn't take that long, then read this.
    Cheers.

    Thanks TeeJay44. That did it and now Avria is working again. Just annoying that I will need to remember to do this once a year. Wonder why they have this policy?

    + rep for you.
