Every time I run a Full Scan, MSE has a nearly constant 50% CPU usage. Is there any way to make it use all 8 threads available on a quad core i7?

I would imagine that you would run into a hard drive bottleneck faster than a CPU one for virus scanning ;).

The HDD is surprisingly not the bottleneck. From what I can tell, MSE is unpacking my ISO images and scanning through each and every single file within the ISO. Since most of these ISOs are either an OS or program installation DVD, they have many cab files, which are further unpacked and scanned.

The total size of each ISO is constrained to a maximum of 4.7 GB, yet it takes a good 20-30 minutes to scan through each ISO. In contrast, my VM disk images, which are typically over 10 GB, take mere seconds to scan through.

When doing a full scan, does temporarily setting the percentage to 50<->100 from the default 50%, in MSE\Settings\Limit CPU usage during a Scan help?
Also, what are your current CPU core affinity settings for MSE? Check f.i. this page on how to check and change affinity settings; link
