    Hi all have a question,
I have a 14 inch Acer Aspire (4339-2618) notebook and need some advice. Which one of the Internet security suites below is best and uses the least amount of resources?

    Bitdefender internet security
    Kaspersky internet security
    Mcafee internet security
    Norton internet security

Here are the specs of the notebook and yes I know they are low and upgrading would be best also I know there are free antivirous, however I prefer the Internet Security Suites.

    Acer Aspire 4339-2618
    64-bit Windows 7 home premium
    Celeron p4600 (2.00GHZ)
    Intel HD Graphics
    2GB DDR3 Memory (1.75 usuable)
    250GB HD

    Best Regards

welcome bro, feel free to ask if you have any questions, I've tried them all and have a license for almost all of them.

My recommendations would be (in order):

    F-Secure Anti-Virus
    Norton Security
    Kaspersky AntiVirus
    Trend Micro Anti-Virus

Thanks , I think I am going to go with Norton Internet Security, I am currently using 2014 version it works good. I was mainly interested if I could get Internet Security Suite that matches or better in terms of effectiveness but uses less Memory given my specs of 2GB of memory with 1.74 usable. with the amount of memory I have when running Norton scans I get a “high” memory usage especially if I am running something else or using the internet.
If I am not mistaken the Minimum Memory for Norton Internet Security 2015 is 512mb? feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

hmm.. my .02 cents norton will become bloatware and do more to hamper your internet uses then help. I use MSE and that is less taxing on my system resources and does just fine on A/V detection.

    Thanks Storm,

I have not looked into MSE is it a full Internet Suite is it? I want the different protection features a Internet Suite gives you like firewall, Id settings, etc the best protection I can get for surfing and banking online. I realize nothing is fool proof though.

    regards

Thanks Storm, Alex for your responses

Storm, I think I am going with norton (even though its going to tax my system) hopefully I can get by with that before I upgrade to a much more powerful notebook. However the MSE is a good choice and I think I am going to download/install that on my Mom's laptop.

MSE and a mom's laptop, a perfect combination to have the system infected with viruses

You see the problem is, when we give a computer to elderly or not so computer savvy people, they usually click next next next blindly when installing something and end up getting a lot of PUPs (potentially unwanted programs) that can harm and slowdown a computer just as a virus but they are technically not a virus so they get away with it. Only few AVs detect PUPs such as Emsisoft Anti-Malware, ESET's NOD32, Kaspersky Antivirus (but you have to manually set the option to enable PUPs in Kaspersky it's no on by default), webroot SecureAnywhere

I personally use Emsisoft Anti-Malware as it's the lightest that I've tried, has no false positives, and is one of the best at detecting PUPs

Norton Security is actually very light and not taxing at all, they did a major overhaul to their AV a while back making it actually very light. can't comment if it detects PUPs though

Thanks Farris23, for the information my mom is definitely a novice on using a laptop.

no issues man, I meant no offense BTW, just stating the fact that non tech savvy people tend to click next next next when installing anything just to be done with it, and even the best AV without PUP detection could end up in a FUBAR situation
