Run free programs like Avast, and AVG, but you do know that you were baited into clicking an advertisement right?

BTW, because you're the 1000000th visitor, you win a laptop. Wire me $30 for shipping.

IE Defender?-Sounds like you downloaded a rogue antispyware program-one that claims to remove false threats in exchange for your money. Did you try scanning with Windows Defender? (an antispyware program included with Windows Vista) If not, try doing a scan under safe mode and see what comes up. If Windows Defender does'nt get rid of it all, you may want to try using Spyware Doctor Free to see what it picks up. In the end though, it would be for the best if you just copy your documents to a flash drive/CD, (do this only if you know they havent been compromised!) reformat everything and start over, since you never really know how much of your machine has been compromised.

Lesson learned: Never download anything unless you explicitly know what it is...or I linked it to you.

    ok heres what it says

    Critcal System Error!
X Your browser was infected by Trojan.Win32.Obfuscated.gx
you need to Clean your system Immediately,in other case it can be crashed soon!
click ok to download the high-tech antispyware protection software!
    (RECOMMENDED)

when i clicked on it, it went to iedefender.
now i started in safe mode and scaned with seach&distroy and if found 3 cookies but it did not stop the critcal error but it does stop the cookie after it comes up
