Personally, I would suggest reinstalling the operating system. Once those buggers get it takes more time to remove them than it takes to reinstall the entire OS.

If you really want to give removal a shot I suggest you download Microsoft Security Essentials. No guarantees on if it will completely eliminate the trojan and any 'buddies' it might have downloaded.

Am basically agreeing with the above, but as uac seems to intercept the culprit before it does it's work, there may be a chance? Check if it starts in safemode (without triggering the uac). From there you may be able to get some control and start a cleaning process.

Or, format, & simply restore the very recent disk image backup that everyone who use\own any computer always have available... ;O)

You'll probably want to backup your existing data when you reinstall Windows.

doing that will most probably back up the trojan as well.

what antivirus did you have in the first place. how did you lose it or do you mean it ran out or needed updating and you didnt bother.

as mentioned download either microsoft security essentials or avast. i use avast and it does everything i need.
if you are going to be using the free version you also need to turn on windows firewall.
might be worth downloading malwarebytes as well as this can get rid of a lot of nastys.
once downloaded reboot and hit F8 on startup continuously to boot into safe mode and run the antivirus full scan. and then run malwarebytes full scan and let us know how you get on.

if its still there a reformat is the only option to get rid of the bugger.

Yeah I also recommend installing MSE or Avast and Scan it with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.

But I also will recommend Reformating as it should be sure it deletes it.

Reformatting it would be a good idea. But I think Hitman Pro (30 day trial only) should get rid of it. Just install it, scan, remove the infection, and remove the program. Now go to a store, walk into the software section, and purchase Webroot, Kaspersky, ESET, BitDefender, or something decent.
