For my main AV software I'm currently looking at Avira, Avast, and AVG as they seem to be the only good main AV software choices. I've heard AVG misses viruses and that Avira has an annoying pop-up when you update.
Which one is the most secure and least taxing on the computer?

For my secondary protection I'm looking at Adware Aniversaty Edition, SUPERAntiSpyware, Spybot, and Malwarebytes. Again looking for the most secure and least taxing on the computer.

After choosing 1 main and 2 secondary should I be safe? I'm pretty tech savvy and there is no getting near my laptop.

    I would go with Avast-main

i will go with either Spybot or SUPERAntiSpyware-secondary

and run Malwarebytes at least once a weak since it doesn't have any real time protection....

this should be good enough to keep u safe from harmful viruses

I would choose Avira over Avast any day. SAS and MBAM are great to go along with it. Maybe even Spyware Blaster.

    My current setup is:

    -Windows firewall
    -Avira for AV
-MBAM and SAS for on-demand scanners
    -Spywareblaster for passive protection
    -CCleaner for registry cleaning

Result? No infections of any kind for three years!

I've been looking around, but can't seem to locate 64 bit versions of av software. Are they out there, and does it matter?

^The 3 free AV's in the sticky all support 64-bit; Avast, Avira and AVG.

That is too many spyware scanners bro....... You only need 1 or 2 at the max.....SAS + Malwarebytes will do the trick.........

Windows defender is just plain useless

You don't have any real time spyware protection. Keep Windows Defender ON.

SpywareBlaster is Passive realtime protection Security tool for Internet Browser.
However, turn on Windows Defender would be better.
    Another layer of protection. XD!
