I use BitDefender 2010 and CounterSpy along with WinPatrol Plus but am usually online only a few hours a day and always disconnect before I log off. I've got several utilities that let me control startup programs as well as Windows but every time I shut them off, even with all the programs at once they come on again at the next boot. I've got a fast computer and probably wouldn't even notice it but the idea of the two biggest resource users running hours and hours with nothing doing irritates me. Any suggestions would be welcome.

And neither program has a box in the settings (that I've found anyway) to stop them from starting with the computer.

There might be a conflict with the 3 programs you're running. I dont trust CounterSpy so much, so i'd say remove that and try again. Besides, why would you wanna overload your system with anti-malware (even if u do have that much power on ur PC).

    Cheers.

Three separate security programs running at once is usually a really bad idea. If you are behind any sort of hardware firewall like a router (and even if you simply turn on Windows 7 firewall) you don't need that much protection unless you regularly peruse the seediest parts of the internet.

Uninstalling them will certainly stop them from starting up!

Check and see if they have an automatic start in the services, and disable it. cCleaner is a good tool to see if you can disable them at start-up also.

    cheers ....
