help! I picked up a virus or adware thing yesterday. Duh!

Everytime I open internet explorer, I get a zillion ads, most have some kind of google reference on them.

I've run AVG 8 (the free one), Ad-Aware (Free anniversary edition)twice, and once each again in safe mode. Nothing! I've also installed IE 8. I tried to update Windows, but it's blocked (even after I tried following the unblocking directions on Microsoft's website)

What can i do? I don't know if I'm at risk, or if it's just annoying and slowing up my computer. It if definitely bugging me enough with just the performance hits.

    Thanks!!!!

Have you tried Avast? It may help find some virus AVG did not.

if your computer is infected by the spy wares .

download the anti spy ware and super anti spy ware and scan the computer in safe mode.

after scanning the computer delete all the detected threats.

    restart the computer.
