Canvas Fingerprinting is like cookies, where companies try and follow you around the internet, yet different, the cookie is written by your browser-its a fingerprint and then networked to other canvas fingerprinting sites and then to the canvas fingerprint designer site, like cookie collecting sites that sell this information.

More on this new tracking system and the blocks to it.

Yes I installed canvasblocker as Firefox addon, now the canvas is blank not filled with my isp, ect on some hacks computer. :)
Yes Virus scanners are not stopping this new invasion of privacy. :)
HTML5 Security Breach, that is a visible exploit, check it out.
Credit where credit is due for this discovery and blocks to it..

Bump: Gmail wont compose an email to be sent-no pop up new email, disable the canvas blocker and the compose email will work again, then enable canvas blocker when done.

Another Article with quotes from Adam Kujawa, the head of intelligence at Malwarebytes on Canvas Fingerprinting.

"Canvas fingerprinting is tracking you, and you don't even know what it is"

"Popular, heavily trafficked websites are increasingly turning to “canvas fingerprinting” in order to track your online movements. Canvas fingerprinting is extremely hard to block, hard to detect, and has become a unique identifier that logs your ‘Net history as you jump from site to site without you knowing about it — on desktop and mobile devices."

"“Canvas fingerprinting is the act of extracting information from a user’s browser and using it paint a semi-unique identifiable token. The method requires the use of HTML5, which is a commonly used standard today, being used from making web apps to games,” Kujawa said."
