Hey. I dont know what happened really but all of a sudden I started getting pop-ups and warnings that my computer is infected with trojans after I saved a Far Side Gallery picture onto my desktop. I just google imaged and then clicked the picture I wanted, that's it. I didn't download anything or visit a site or anything sketchy like that.
I don't know what to do to remove it. I have Kaspersky internet security and it reads 4 viruses and 2 trojans.
Another pop-up comes up and says I have this:

    trojan.win32.agent.azsy
It says its a Windows PE EXE
    ^ I don't know what that means.

How do I remove these viruses safetly. I am not to security savvy or anything, so I am kind of lost. Thanks for any help.

    ~Josh

Download a-squared, MBAM, and SUPERAntiSpyware. Install them, and then scan with them in safe mode one after the other. And use NOD32, it's better than the Avasts/Aviras of the world.

First of all, I am going to guess that when you clicked the image on Google Image Search, it took you to a site which used an unknown or unpatched vulnerability in your browser and downloaded a program unbeknownst to you and executed itself, thus infecting your PC with this trojan.

Windows PE EXE = Windows Portable Executable
In layman's terms, that means it's a program.

Since you have Kaspersky Internet Security, just follow whatever Kaspersky Internet Security asks you to do, and you'll be fine. Here are the instructions, per Kaspersky:

    http://www.viruslist.com/en/viruses/encyclopedia?virusid=21782828

If worst comes to worst and the trojan just won't go away, backup all of your files onto an external storage device, reformat the computer, and reinstall Windows.

    Good luck.

So, how do I go about reformating my computer? Will this take care of the trojan issue?
(again, I'm not to sharp with this stuff)

Click me. Formatting and re-installing the OS should take care of the trojan issue, but if you have cracks/trojans in some other directory, it won't mean jack if you format as they'll return when you use these infected files again. Scan first, and the re-format.

And use Opera. If you have to stick with IE, use IE8. Do not use Firefox or Chrome, or you'll end up in the same situation.

FF or Chrome would of been safer than IE. Just because Opera doesn't get a lot of attention, doesn't mean its the safest browser. If he had FF with Ad Block Plus or NoScript, etc. he would of never potentially had a problem. And Chrome has sandboxing. So, he would be better off with any.

Didn't Ad Block Plus and NoScript make some rather disappointing news recently?

Not that I've heard. Only thing I heard about Ad Block Plus was in the future allowing some site have ads. If that is the case, won't update it.

You can also remove trojans by checking the msconfig, that works some times.
