Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh!!!! Okay, so i was just happy this morning browsing my internet then suddenly.....BOOM VIRUS APPEARED. GAH, the all these pop outs started appearing saying to download these virus removers. But then i cant remove the infections they found because i had no credit card and whatever. Then it started to get all hangy and i was panicking and so I shut down my computer. When I turned it on again the sweepers were still on and now it freaking annoying and when I went to check if any data was lost like what people say when you get a virus, i was going to local disk but then.....I could not find it. It was not on My Computer!!!! Now I'm so nervous. Please, how can I remove this stinking virus and get back lost stuff!?!?!

I dnt know anything specific about that virus. But never ever click on the pop ups. That will add more virus.

Go to bit defender.com and do an online scan for starters. It will help with something. Then back up all you can and reformat the HDD.

Ok.. Gah. Wah. !!!, ok down to business :)

Those popups that tell you you have a virus are liars! They are usually popups that configure themselves to trick you. Windows will never give a popup telling you to buy something with a credit card.

The first thing to do is remove all those programs you downloaded. They are incredibly evil and deceptive and sometimes include nasty viral type software with it.

Download the free trial of Norton Antivirus. It will identify if you really have a virus. There are lots of other Antivirus softwares listed in this thread (all free or w/ free trial that will remove stuff):

Now about the missing disk... Is this a separate hard drive, a separate partition, or the C: drive itself?

He is saying that if you do in fact have a virus, your best recourse is to back up as much data as you can, then reinstall Windows in a method that will bring it back to the way the computer was when you bought it.

I don't think you need to do that quite yet. First check to see it you really do have a virus.

Assuming you have anti-malware apps on your machine, you should run them right away: AV, anti-spyware, whatever you have. As Gregory said, sounds to like a low-life scheme to get you to spring for junk programs you don't need, and which will only further complicate your situation.

Post back once you've scanned your machine. You'll be able to get loads of help from some very smart folks. And my advice is to hold off on a reinstall until you've given the scans a shot.

Okay, I really think i have a virus because at the bottom of my screen in my clock at the taskbar there is a thing that says VIRUS ALERT! here....

The C: drive itself, and also i think theres another drive beside it thats gone...But i can still open stuff from it like i can go to program files by starting off with some other folder...

Ok.. It is really important that you uninstall those programs you installed and check for a virus with one of the programs I linked to. Windows does not have any build in feature to say "VIRUS ALERT". That is one of the programs adding that to fool you I'm fairly confident.

Could you tell us which software you have downloaded and installed recently?
I see that you were already checking yourself (tab in the screen pic)
I see you have AVG atm and although I don't use it myself now, I can't remember ever having seen such an AVG warning.
So what is listed in 'Add/Remove Programs' list that is out of the ordinary?

Okay, so I installed Vista Antivirus 2008 and SpyGuarder. Its all I can remember from the panicking.... And in the Add or Remover Programs, I cannot find those two.
Also, once in a while, my taskbar disappears and my desktop and i have to restart the comp to get it back.
GAH! Im gonna freak out if i dont fix this in 2 hours >_<

Calm down :) You likely don't have a virus. Both of those programs are reported all over the web as being "rouge" programs that deceive you into believing you have a virus... Give me a minute to see if I can fine some removal instructions.

The programs are in fact viruses themselves

EDIT: These are the first removal tutorials I found. It gives both software to do it for you and manual instructions. I suggest you use the manual instructions, since I am not aware of these web pages as being completely legit:

Maybe and maybe not. Viruses are like ticks. They sink many legs into the scalp of your computer. You can remove the tick, but some legs might still be there.

These tutorials seem to be designed to remove all the legs, so it is a very good possibility it will go back to normal.

@everyone? Does anyone know of any trusted anti-malware programs that will specifically remove these threats? As the manual removal instructions are a bit complicated (for people not used the the registry).

I would recommend doing the manual removal; killing the processes, deleting the files and then using CCleaner to remove the registry entries.
CCleaner is an easy to use registry cleaner; link
However, I'd assume SUPERAntispyware will handle both; link for the free version.

And don't worry, both CCleaner and SUPERAntispyware are legit. ;)
The link in my signature gives you more security software links.
    Cheers.
