This is why I NEVER let my sister have full control of the OS! I don't know what she did, but she managed to screw something up so that no one but my account could view videos. (I thought she was just uninstalling a program I gave her permission to uninstall, but I guess she clicked something or did something else, and when I typed in my password, I didn't watch her)

So, I decided to do a system restore. And whoo, she doesn't remember when she screwed the thing up. So I had to keep doing restores (luckily I hadn't recently deleted my restore points) until I finally found one that videos worked in all accounts.

    All good, right? Nope.

Suddenly, my Avira stops working. The guard is turned off, and it won't update. I think I uninstalled it at this point. It seemed to be working. Once again, though, when I started the updates, it would NOT work! I don't remember if I did more, or if I made it worse or what, but at some point, I tried to uninstall it again, and it didn't let me. Said I didn't have access. I have the admin account! So, I went to the actual program files, and it said I was denied access! I went to the security tab, and it seems like none have full or special access. =/ So I tried giving it to the ones I figured would use it, like the ADMIN group. Still doesn't work.

I don't know what to do. I love this antivirus, but I don't know what the heck I did or my sister did earlier.

To sum it up, I don't have the proper permissions to uninstall Avira. (to re-install) What can I do?

Lol, no worries. Avira's updater has been down for a few days. It's nothing to do with your computer. Everyone is having this issue although you should be able to uninstall it. Try restarting your computer then unstalling it. Try safemode.

No, no, I realize that. But in trying to fix the previous thing my sister did, and in thinking that my Avira was a unique problem (I hadn't logged on here to see others had issues) I ended up screwing something up. My permissions are wrong, and now, I can't uninstall it because Vista says I don't have permission. (I've tried restarting)

X_x I don't know how to reset permissions. And it looks if I try to change some of the permissions, they just go back to what they were.

EDIT: I'll try it in safemode

EDIT2: Nope, doesn't work. Also, whenever I start up, when loading, I get an alert that says that it couldn't load Avira. D= Heeelp!

maybe u shud just tell her to update the av herself, considering you don't have the administrator priviledges. :)

...I am the admin of my computer. I have the admin account and I am the owner of my laptop. That's why I'm freaking out; why can't I do it, if I have the admin account? My sister has a lower priority account, if she wants to install anything, she has to call me to put in my password, as I'm the only one with admin permissions on my laptop.

    I'm sorry, I don't see the uninstaller.

X_x Sorry if it's really obvious, and I'm just missing it. I can't find it.

EDIT: Is it the Avira RegistryCleaner?

    Avira Antivir Removal Tool.

Do not worry about it, in such a moment of crisis, it is hard to focus.
