Does anyone know what would be the best internet security suite that works well with games? I'm considering KIS but I heard that it mess' with your system files and causes instability. I've been hearing good things about Norton 2008 but haven't touched one of their products since 2003. Never tried Mcafee but I do use their "siteadvisor" program. I'm really looking for a all-in-1 solution that doesn't slow down during gaming... rather then several different programs, and right now I'm using NOD32 ver.3 but my trial ended and I didn't really like it either.

They probably have no impact. Ask Berserk, he'll explain it better than me right now.

    Maybe this one? http://www.bullguard.com/why/steelsecurity.aspx

SteelSecurity offers Antivirus, Firewall, Spamfilter and Backup protection. In addition to these well-known security features, SteelSecurity also comes with a gaming plugin, which features a range of "game profiles".
When a known game is launched, SteelSecurity is able to detect this, and will switch security settings to the corresponding game profile. The game profile will make sure that the firewall allows traffic on the ports that the specific game needs, and will switch to anti-virus settings which have minimal effect on the computer performance. In addition, pop-ups from SteelSecurity are switched off, as to not interfere with the gaming experience.

To be honest, I've never tried it and I don't know how good Bullguard is in general.
I'm using ESET Smart Security and had no problems so far.

I've used NIS 2008 since release and I'm pretty satisifed.

I don't really notice any impact on my system due to NIS. Of course, things do slow down a bit once a scan is being done, but that's to be expected.

Agreed...used it and very satisfied so far. No resources hogs on old HP nc6000 laptop with old Pentium M 1.6, 1.5GB RAM ;)

I thing I didn't like about NOD32 (not sure about their SS) is that when it was updating virus signatures my 2ghz P4 goes to 100% usage or are most modern anti-viruses like that?

It's unavoidable if you want the convinience of automatic updates. If it happens while Counter-Strike is running, it becomes very hard to aim weapons, which is a little annoying. I'm running a 2.66GHz P4, 512MB of DDR-333 RAM, GeForce4 MX 440, and a PATA 5400RPM drive.

That's not happen on my system which is old Pentium M-1.6GHz. While automatic update is running, my processor goes to 1.0GHz. I installed NHC, so I know when there is a jump on the processor :)
IMO..., both Avira and NOD32 are the least resources hogs. I have tried almost all available security suites on the market today and run back to both.

ahhhhh my poor P4 struggling to keep up with modern AV-software xD! Thx guys I've tried avast! but never Avira so I'll probably go with that, and if all else fails I'll just run back to NOD32.

Antivir is very light on resources if that's what you're looking for.

what's about Avira + Comodo with defense+ off + TreatFire, would it be a light system hog comparing for just Avira + Spywareblaster?

Haven't tried spyware blaster on vista but i can tell you i'm usually using 600mb ram, and if i use a "tweak" of mine, i can go down to 400mb.
