Is the online scan for Kapersky any good?

It's free and it doesn't seem like you have to sign up for anything.

How does this compare with the purchase version?

I've heard Kapersky is pretty good?

Last I ran it, I noticed it said it only looks for viruses, it doesn't actually remove them. But other than that it should be fine I would think. I mean, it hasn't found anything on my system (nothing ever does lol), but it hasn't caused any problems either.

Check out the ESET NOD32 online scanner too. I believe it will remove a virus if it finds one. I could be mistaken though.

EDIT: Yes, ESET claims to also remove viruses it finds: http://www.eset.com/onlinescan/

NOD32 scanner sounds much better! Checked it out, but have to use IE to run it.

I guess that's not a big deal, I just never use IE.

That's true. In fact, if you're on Vista, I think you probably have to right-click IE and do "Run as administrator" (if UAC is on).
