Foxit Corporation, known for their Foxit Reader/PDF reader, have released a new version. (official announcement)
The new version now runs default in 'safe mode operation'.
This means that any embedded executables in a PDF file can't run without explicit user consent.

After the discovery some 2 month ago that PDF's can be used to hide malware inside them and dupe users into executing the malware (not due to any bugs but due to PDF standard functionalities) companies like Adobe (Reader), Foxit (Reader) and Tracker Software (PDF-XChange viewer) have scrambled to come up with a solution.

Adobe has it's Trust Manager and now Foxit has come up with...a trust manager.
There you can change settings if you want to be able to run embedded executables in a PDF.
The default for Foxit Reader is 'safe mode operation'.

Also, with this version, if you select to NOT install the Ask.com toolbar it will actually NOT install it (unlike the previous version that installed the toolbar whatever choice you made).

Thanks for the info. I don't know if anyone is aware but you can disable Javascript execution within Foxit prior to v3.3

This is enough to finally make me dump Adobe. :) Thanks Baserk.
