    Hi

Fairly straight forward thread. I am considering the above two as suites for protection. Have read good things about both. I know its a subjective topic but does anyone have any input or anything on these products?

    Thanks
    Stevie.

ESET has always been the leader in protection.....low system resources...

I suggest ESET as a 5 year old user of NOD32 Antivirus.....never got an infection :) System speedy as if there was no antivirus loaded

ESET is supposed to be lightweight and effective, the last time I tried Panda it dragged a system to its knees.. YMMV.

Good job i am swaying more and more to Eset as Nod32 has strong reviews....the smart security version is based on using the same nod32 antivirus but has the additional spyware/firewall defences instead of relying on others.

I think im selling it to myself LOL ;)

    For your consideration, here are some recent test results from two (more or less) independent testing organizations for different security suites;

    Virus Bulletin
    RAP testing results link.

    AV-Test.org
    security suite test results link

(Read the test results and testing methodology in order to appreciate the results)

NOD32 is a great program but not as light as one may think. I just finished my 30 day trial of it today and now use Avira Premium. The difference in Task Manager is 58,512K of memory total for ESET vs Avira at 19,736K. Then again, this is the NOD32 antivirus & malware, not the all in 1 suite that you're looking at.

I plan to purchase one of the two when the Avira trial runs out. Avira does consistently score better and is cheaper.

Panda IS....soft? I don't know about this one. Panda scores high here but rather low in one of the links above.

You can see here that both the Panda and ESET firewalls do poorly. I have Comodo, have used it for about 3 years and love it. It's free plus NOD32 Antivirus 4 is $20 cheaper than the suite. That's a great combo there.

Can't say about much about ESET, but I was using torrents a lot, then I got hit with some viruses. I had Panda, but it wouldn't stop anything. I ended up getting Cyberdefender which comes with a 24 x 7 help line. Most often it at least stops the attack and deletes the virus, but the last time it was a very new virus and it stopped the attack but couldn't get rid of it. I call them, and they fixed it with a remote access session and I am happy.

I'm using ESET Nod32 and it's quite good! Fast and not annoying as Norton, Mcaffee, etc. Nod32 keeps running without any hassle or too much notification like update, restart, or other announcement.

I got Cyberdefender antivirus software, and it worked great as a free scanner with spyware and trojan removal. If it finds a virus, you need the upgrade, which I got since I liked the speed and user interface of the scanner. The Cyberdefender antivirus software works great, and the paid version I got also came with 24/7 computer help line with my wife found helpful while I was away. I found out Cyberdefender is a NASDAQ company and they have a great product.

99% of the sites and reviews say Cyberdefender is a scam ..
and the rest 1% written by ppl with iq less then 0 :p

ps.: Would prefer almost anything that is working over panda.
