    Title is a good story.

Need an alternative, don't care much it is (as long as the price range is still within ESET or NORTON pricing).

But mostly, I'm going to miss ESET since it was sooo tiny and unnoticeable. I also liked it cause it was an all-in-1 package, but who cares I just need basic AV since FF+adblockplus+gmail protects me online for the most part.

Looking for firewall and AV, super-lightweight, industry recognized. $$$ no problem, the company pays for it.

    Ideas?

Online Armor v.3 free version/paid version + Avira AntiVir free or Avira Premium paid version.
OA is an excellent firewall with a HIPS, Avira has very good detection & removal scores.
It's the combination I use myself atm; both free versions and combined with ThreatFire, the latter is a bit overkill but I want to see how the newest version works out.
    No conflicts!

Thank you for posting. But what do you mean?

I♥RAM, by the way - how is that app causing lockups? Being you, I'd rather try to solve the issue itself rather than go and buy something new, just to make sure that a) it cannot be solved and b) it is really the software, not your disk or memory being corrupted. (As in that case, any AV will end up the same when bumping into a disk/memory failure.)

Huh... then you will most probably have issues with *any* AV software. I'd suggest to check the disk consistency and run memtest (or some similar app) to find out what exactly is wrong and to fix it. I mean, all AV systems are similar in the way how they work, and if one causes lockups, other may too...
