I have had Nod32 for just under a year, and am liking it, but I haven't actually tried any other AV program out there, as I just went straight into ESET. I pay for ESET, but I am beginning to think it is too much to pay.

I have read the sticky thread, but that still doesn't give me any help. Are there any Lightweight - Non memory/CPU hogger AVs out there? Also, are there any AVs that are free and also give you premium benefits, as if there isn't a paid version? My brother uses AVG, and I do not like the look of it.

Another question. I have had a very bad experience with Windows Firewall, and am thinking of changing...Is it ok to have a firewall from a different, say, brand from your AV?

    Thanks guys!

IMO, I'm using Norton 360 and works like a charm. Unlike others say, it is not a CPU hog, and is pretty light. Catches all viruses. I once had 42 viruses, and I had ESET : guess what, I ended RMA'ing the laptop 'cause NOD32 didn't catch them. Then, I tested again, same viruses, and Norton got angry and kikced their butt :)

I'm really not too sure...Norton looks ok, but I have seen a few reviews from Norton 360 Review - Internet security and firewall - CNET Reviews and I'm not too sure. Can I still use a firewall if I get an antivirus? or will it conflict?

Norton 360's firewall is in the top 5. If you only want the AV, the buy Norton internet security 2011, which ( I guess ), comes without a firewall. Then you can use your own.

    400 USELESS POSTS LOL!!!! :D

Ok, I'll buy Norton, since they make Norton Ghost which I always used.

    What firewalls do you recommend?

    Congrats on 400 :)

EDIT: Just realised I can't use Norton because my Asus system is 64-bit Windows 7

Check out our Internet Security Buyers Guide 2011:
    http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=5948

Norton Internet Security is an excellent choice. Other top choices are ESET Smart Security 4 and Kaspersky Internet Security.

With regards to what you're paying -- you could try one of the free solutions but they typically don't include a firewall (Microsoft Security Essentials, etc). Paid AV solutions update more frequently as well. I can't make too big of a case for paying money for a protection suite though; the free solutions have narrowed the gap in recent years.
NIS 2011 comes with a firewall.

I'll probably stick with ESET. What do you guys recommend for a firewall? I haven't had a good experience with Windows Firewall..

For firewall, I like Comodo (free version). :)
For AV, MSE ftw! :D Both are good, free and lightweight.
