    It does mine. Running 8.0.238.

I was in quest of speeding up the lappy in Windows (had gotten somwhat sluggish... ugh). I thought maybe it was ATI driver, so I have that uninstalled (and will be doing some investigation on that... I think it might not be the culprit). Anyway, I thought, hey, maybe it's the AVG resident shield and so I disabled it. My system has gotten more snappy. :D :D :D For instance, I use Launchy to navigate through folders, but it had been such a pain navigating in my installers folder because it took so long to respond again once I was in the folder in Launchy. Because AVG resident shield was on. I disabled it, and boom! my Launchy experience was fast and crisp. No more resident shield scanning everything I do.

Thoughts? Opinions? Stories? Anything to add?

If you want some light and strong free AV. Avira ANtivir Personal 9 is the lightest and the strongest after all. It doesn't slow down your system at all.

Hum, okay. I knew there was a free version of Avira but I've never tried it. Thanks for the advice. Any input/experience from anyone on AVG Resident Shield before the thread dies?
