How many of you just use windows defender (generic vista firewall) as your firewall and get a 3rd party antivirus?

And how many just don't trust microsoft and get 3rd party firewalls like Zonealarm?

I found programs like Zonealarm internet suite slows down my system (especially boot up times) a lot.

I'm behind a router, so I only use it's firewall-- I have the Window's firewall disabled. I don't run any antivirus software or anti-spyware--I'll enable Defender every few weeks to do a scan and also do an online virus scan.

Maybe not the best solution for all, but I've never had any problems...I can't remember the last time I had spyware or a virus.

(By the way, Windows Defender is not a firewall :) )

I always use third party software; I don't trust microsoft with anything and have thus disabled windows defender and the windows firewall. I use a internet security suite instead of the independent antivirus and firewall programs. I do this because your typical internet security solution is from one vendor and therefore I don't have any problems with the antivirus getting along with the firewall etc.
I am also behind a wireless router which has yet another firewall built into it and my DSL modem also does NAT.

I use Windows Defender for spyware protection and AVG Anti-virus for virus protection.
