Presently, I have webroot anti-virus program, but I want to try a different one, such as Norton internet security 2010. How do I go about this? Do I utterly uninstall the webroot program, if so, wouldn't that mess up the quarantined viruses?

    Plzz help

I would uninstall the antivirus, and if i remember correctly, it asks you whether you want to delete them(I can't remember). You can also delete the program from the program files, and the registry after uninstalling it.

Okay, uninstall the antivirus program(as well as the program files folder, and registry if you feel brave), and i would recommend installing either Avast or AVG, as far as i remember they are free.

avast and avg are both free but you can also upgrade to the pro versions which give you a lot more protection. im now running avast pro after using avg pro last year.
    norton is very power hungry.

If you want try a different AV, make sure to indeed remove Webroot.
Remove it as usual, through Add/Remove Programs, as described on this Webroot support web page.

I recommend Avast Free Edition 5.0 as an alternative.
Check my sig for download links.
NIS2010 is what I would recommend if you want a full security suite instead of an AV and don't mind spending $$.
