One of the computers in my house was infected with multiple variants of "Coolweb". That computer has already been reformatted, so it should be safe. However, what is the risk of it spreading to other computers on the home network? I have 3 other computers - 2 running Nod32 and 1 running Kaspersky - and their scan came back clean. I'm quite paranoid about computer security, and am considering reformatting (well, reverting back to my previous image) for all of them. Is that necessary?

Do you have firewalls running on each individual machine? (Even if it's just Windows built-in firewall...?)

Coolweb can't spread on it's own. You can check the shared folders of the other computers as it might have dropped an executable in there, however you would have to actually run that executable on the other computer.

Well, that's the thing. I had trouble sharing files on two of my computers, so I turned off their firewalls and forgot about it(I kept the windows firewall disabled on all my computers; I was referring to the 3rd party ones).

Firewall doesn't make a difference. That prevents connection, not execution.

Kaspersky and NOD telling you that those machines are clean should be enough but you could run TrendMicro's CWShredder link and MBAM link for ease of mind.

Hiker, your signature is the maximum length. I see people with that but in standard size.

Half the page is kids listing the specs of their computer, which BTW, I don't care about at all. I'll check your profile page if I want them, there is a section specific for that.
