Is Comodo supposed to be extremely painful to get set-up and running? Aside from the 5 alerts I seem to get every time I click my mouse button, it also freezes up my computer for minutes at a time (particularly when I try to access any of its settings). Is it supposed to ask permission for everything, and I mean everything?

I really like the amount of information the program provides, but I am really becoming annoyed with the freezing. It happens when I click anything within Comodo. For example, if I click "about" or "help", or "settings", it freezes.
Another problem I have is that it has given MS Word (or something within Word) permission to access the Internet without my permission. I mainly installed Comodo because I could not get Office live workspaces add-in (in Word) to connect to the internet using Vista Firewall. I was hoping to identify what required permission using Comodo, but it gave permission automatically. Any thoughts?
Update:
I noticed that a Comodo alert appears and then quickly disappears after it freezes. It is like it is asking for permission for itself to run, freezes, and then times out. -

I think I may take your advice and venture into the Comodo forums after I become a little more familiar with Comodo.
I did solve the freezing problem though - my theory that it was blocking itself from running was correct. It had setup a custom policy that blocked itself from launching executables - it's a little strange that it learned to block itself. -
Out of the box it shouldn't pose many problems. Take care in what permissions you give it.

It's taking a little getting used to, but for the most part, it stopped bothering now. The help files are pretty complete, but setting some permissions still confuse me a little. For example, I have set Firefox as a trusted application (defense+), and I tried to launch a Powerpoint file from a 'open' dialogue box (the kind when you add a file name to a field on a web form), but it froze Firefox. I set it to learn and tried this again - it changed the Firefox permissions to what looks exactly the same as a trusted application - confusing.
However, I do like Comodo, and it Works with the Office Live Workspace add-in, which I could not get to work with Vista Firewall (even with the corret rules set).
I do have one question.
When starting up Windows, is Windows smart enough to block network traffic until Comodo has loaded? or does it just allow free reign to any processes that beat Comodo at startup? -
