A pop up message appeared 'click for the latest update'

    after update..COMODO program exited.

and when i restarted comp ..its gone.

And then i notice they have released a new non-pro version ..

so this is cheating... they in their so called update..uninstalled my program.

    unfair practice or update bug?

That's weird. I just updated to 3.5 without any problems.

    What's a non Pro version?

In order to reinstall you may have to install Comodo Internet Security without the AV if you don't want it.

    Have you searched for cfp.exe?

It happened to me as well. Except I don't even restart. It just dissapeared. Only the shortcuts remain.

So I've uninstalled Comodo. Then I download CIS 3.5. During installation I choose not to install the AntiVirus. Why do I still need to download the virus signatures updates? Doesn't make sense to me.

It's CFP or Comodo Firewall Pro. It's always been that. If they leave off Pro it doesn't mean anything. Or maybe if you don't activate D+ , which I don't know why you wouldn't, it says Firewall without the Pro.

Update. I have the Firewall with D+ if I hover over the tray icon it say Comodo Firewall. The GUI says Comodo Firewall.

Unless you have a broken install I don't see the problem

From what I understand when you update CFP from 3.0. to 3.5 without the AV, the AV is dormant. If you want to upgrade to CIS you do it through add/remove rather than reinstalling. You can also drop components this way. Some people like this feature, others don't I don't really care and will most likely add the AV next year once it's further developed.

Added: Personally, I'm not sure what you're talking about by downloading the signature updates. That hasn't happened here once I restarted after downloading 3.5

I've just tried to update comodo and i get this:

    comodo.JPG

Plus, before i updated, windows security would recognise comodo, now it won't even though it's running.

    What I did is this:
    1. I let Comodo update itself, but then it installed itself... cfp.exe is missing.
    2. I restart, I see that Comodo is still there when I go check Revo Uninstaller.
    3. Then, I uninstall Comodo through Revo Uninstaller.
    4. I download the new CIS installer.
    5. I install CIS. Choose to install Firewall only.
    6. After the installation, the setup seems to download virus database for a while...

Comodo Firewall is now working normally though. Maybe the download was one time only after installation.

The Virus DB is Once every fresh install of CFP and i encountered the same issues as Karen .then did the exact steps as above, it works fine for me :D

    CFP 3.5 + SEP

Download and install CIS then during installation just select CFP and disable AV .... Now everything should have been fixed :D

Oh right sorry. CFP has a virus malware check before it installs. You can run it manually after, but I don't. I have Avira and SAS, and Malewarebytes, and A2 and trust them concerning AV/Spyware more.

I was confusing CAV their AV.

bangert, have you tried the Comodo forums? I've seen that problem. I think it's a Vista one. And are you sure you downloaded the proper bit version? Anyway, they'd know better than me. If I see the fix when I'm over there, I'll PM you.

Thanks. I basically used the update feature within comodo. I'm gonna try the fix previously mentioned, see what happens.

OK, looking around, I can't find the virus scan it used to have. Wierd. Just make sure you thoroughly check out the program. It has a learning curve but it appears to be a great product. I have't had any problems since the 1st version of 3.0 and they usually do a great job of fixing any bugs.

It helps if you file a bug report on the comodo forum

All is well now. basically downloaded the newer version from the comodo, unchecked the AV during install as i run avira, and all works well. I'm going to keep an eye on it though, just to make sure, and windows is detecting it.

Mine apparently updated and *poof* no more COMODO Firewall. All the shortcuts died, and even when I went into the program folder, the .exe file did not work. I did as Karen suggested, uninstalled and installed 3.5 without the anti-virus. Seems to be working but what a pain to teach it which programs are OK to run again.

Yeah, that's why you should export your settings before updating or upgrading to a folder outside the Comodo folders.
