Does anyone have experience with both? I've narrowed my choices to these two.

I've heard Kaspersky use to have no slow down in performance but that's changed w/ 2014? And Bitdefender has generally had some issues w/ slowdown?

Your input would be most appreciated.

I have been using Kaspersky Internet Security for years as i get it free with my internet banking from Barclays, now using version 2014 and in all the years i have been using Kaspersky i have never had a infection on any of my computers, I have not used Bitdefender so i cannot give my opinion on that, but i do use the free Malwarebytes and IObit Malware Fighter to double check on Kaspersky but there scans always come up clean :)

Kaspersky uses a lot of cpu when doing a full scan, it often hits 90%+ while scanning so i dont recommend it for a low powered cpu, I use the free Avast on my low power tablet/notebook.

Thank you very much. Does it use a lot of resources during normal use? (i.e. while running in the background while browsing, etc...?)

Very little when it is not scanning, though if you download a file and then run it, Kaspersky will scan it first and you will see a cpu spike while it`s doing it, also i dont notice any slowdown while browsing and i have Kaspersky set to it`s highest level.

I would have hoped you would have more than my opinion on this subject :(

I think most of us are just tired of answering the same question over and over. "What's the best Anti-Virus" "Which is better, X or Y" etc....

So many of us have our own opinion on this subject that it gets old but Tinderbox did respond with a good reply.

    Thanks.

I've been researching the bitdefender vs kaspersky and have seen so many mixed reviews I thought i'd give this place a try. I've been using Norton for about 4 years now and think it's time for a change.

In any case thanks again for your replies!

I'm with you here. I've had Norton for a while because I've managed to get really good deals on it and it has been ok with thankfully no bad experiences yet. But I feel like I need to amp up the protection and I don't think Norton is cutting it for me.
