    Best anti-virus to install on the M15x?

    I've found Norton a real pain in the past, with its embedded programs that stay on the HDD after you have uninstalled the actual program. Lots of messing about if you wanted to get rid of it for good.

    I was just wondering if anybody here knows of a really good anti-virus and internet security program (preferably all-in-one) that works well on the M15x and does not cause the operating system (or anything else installed) any issues.

    i'm using Kaspersky IS 2009....and it works great!

    google av comparative and matousec and you will find Kaspersky one of the top AV

    Hello Gun,

    I'm using Eset NOD32 ( http://www.eset.com/) on my systems and have done so for many years now. An excellent light weight firewall + antivirus program that is updated around every second day or even every day. I find it so useful and good because it takes up almost minimal system resources when it is running in the background.

    I feel your pain there with the Norton! tried that aswell before and it really slows down your system.

    Good luck in finding a good AV!

    One thing about Nod32 you can try it for a month before you buy it. It only uess 8mb of ram and it not bloatware. I agree with Svarto Nod32 is great. And it user friendly.

    I'm using BitDefender Total Security 2008
    So far I really like it...it comes with a lot of features and it's reasonably priced...more than reasonably priced when you consider all the bells and whistles.
    I hate Norton's for so many reasons, but resource hog seems to be the consenus for everyone...I had McAfee but it was letting some new stuff slip through. Check BitDefender's Review on PCWorld
    My fiance uses Shield Deluxe and she seems to like it alot as well.

    Most virus scanners have free trials for a certain period of time...I like to download free trials and test before I buy....One man's trash is another's treasure.

    I suggest BitDefender. I really like it and it will be going on my Area 51 m17x when it arrives. :yes:

    I'm with Crow28277, check out Bitdefender Total Security 2008. Been using BD products for years, I'm really happy with them, and not a resource hog at all.
