This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    What is considered the best? Price is not really an issue.

    Avira AntiVir, Kaspersky AV and Eset's NOD32.
    In 3 days, independent testing outfit AV-Comparatives will release their latest test results.
    I dare say, one of those 3 will win.

    edit: Keep an eye also on Avast5, soon to come...

    You shouldn't just base yourself on detection rate. Of course its important but you should consider the impact on system resources, GUI, and other features.

    In my opinion: Kaspersky or NOD32 but I prefer NOD32 since its lighter on resources.

    I agree. I am a fan of NOD32, and I have been through most of the rest...Norton, Trend, McAfee, etc.
