When ever Avira anti-virus auto updates it then wants to restart my computer. It did not used to do this and it does not do this on my desktop. Is there some way to fix it without reinstalling it?

You must have used the "tweak" to get rid of the nag screen. You'll have to edit the permissions even deeper if you want to disable the nag screen and not have it restart after every update.

Yes, is this only a Vista issue because I did the same tweak on my XP Desktop and works just fine.

As McGrady said, it will do that if you tweak it like you did on the previous version, the secret is a permission edit that's deeper. The old tweak on my XP laptop did the same thing as it did on Vista, so I don't know if it's OS related. I found this elsewhere, (can't find the source), but what needs to be done is, go to the security tab, hit advance, then edit each user, and deny traverse folder/execute file, and that's all you have to do for each user.

when the windows update the avira software , it restarts just because of the new changes in the installed anti virus.

when you update or installed/removed the new software in the computer , after completing the process it always ask you to restart the computer . so that the new hardware / software changes stored in the computer.

you not to worry about all these things. these are good for the computer.

...First of all, Windows Update does not update Avira AT ALL. The problem the OP is having is because he used the tweak to get rid of the annoying nag screen, which is causing his system to reboot after every update. Avira updates don't require reboots, they are just new definition files...They are not hardware/software changes...

It's not forcing my system to reboot, but it keeps coming up with a pop up in the bottom right corner that tells me that I have to restart because its just updated.

Avira won't update without rebooting. Click the link below for a solution.

This just started happening to me and I am using W7 Beta with the ad pop up disabled. This never happened to me when I was using Avira 8 on W7 Beta.

This happens only in Version 9. There is a solution to disable it. See above.
