I'm running Avira on my desktop. Laptop to come soon.

I have at least one license I can use for Norton Internet Security 2009. Not something I'd have gone out and bought, but since it's sitting there I'm wondering if I should switch or not!

I like antivirus to be not really noticeable or taking up lots of resources, and protective obviously. :p

nis2009 is awesome. still not my fav but its a fantastic improvement over any previous version of nortons and i think would be fine to use. avira has better detection but nis2009 did very well in the newest av comparatives testing almost as good as avira did

Let me rephrase this. I do not believe Avira has good detection rates. The only reason it's so good is because they coded Avira so that when it see's something just a bit suspicious, it will it. That's why there is a lot of false positives. Any software can do what Avira did.

    Get Norton, it's amazing.

Any (AV) software can do what Avira does? Really?
Could you enlighten me which other AV product has heuristic engines that match those of Avira?
And whether you do or don't believe that Avira has good detection rates isn't really relevant with all due respect..
AV's can be judged on facts, you don't have to believe anything.
You can check AV-Comparatives or Virus Bulletin.
If you would say, I don't believe their test results I'd like to know why.
And if you can give me links to test results which show that Avira has more fp's than it's peers, I'd be gratefull.
    Cheers.

    I am using NIS9 myself.

Used to hate Norton with the fire of a thousand suns but they won me over with NIS9 man. I love it. I find it to be superior to all programs out there in all respects (and I have tested almost all), but that's just me.
