I tried doing that, i've done it before, but i think i messed up. Anyway, now, my avira doesn't work and i can't access my avira > AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic Properties folder in my programs. Anyone know what to do? I get the message: You don't currently have permissiion to access this folder. Now i'm in the security tab and unsure what to do.

I tried, but I can't even do that. Revo uninstaller couldn't even do it and now it won't show up on control panel programs lists. On my program files its still there and i can't delete it.

    Are you running as admin?

Seems like a system restore should work.

    PS What's your OS?

Yes I am admin, i adjusted the security so the permission is not allowing me to delete it for some reason.

Hiker: i really don't want to system restore, it should be a easy fix but i'm not getting it. I simply changed the permissions, i should be able to change it back to normal.

Why can't you change the permissions back then? Change it back to 'allow'

Huh, a system restore to the las known good point isn't all that bad an option. Have you retraced your steps to make ure you did as described?

PS Again what's your OS, do you have an option, like in XP pro?

Sorry, I forgot to mention its Vista Home Premium 64bit. As for putting it back to allow, allow is checked and deny is unchecked. I don't have any restore files.

No idea about Vista. I used the 1st directions for XP pro with MCE as an OS and it worked fine. I don't know why you're reluctant to do a system restore, but it looks like the best option at this point.

I just attempted a system restore to one from yesterday, no luck. It still didn't work.

Nvm, I think it worked, i have a question though, I'm not sure what that system restore did? It was one from yesterday and I downloaded some stuff today and undervolted my laptop, and i still see the stuff i downloaded, so i'm not sure what changed?

Looks like you may have to reinstall Windows. If you can't find a fix here, does elitekiller take email? I see him on Wilders. I wouldn't ask over at Avira. they frown on disabling the ad for a free product.

Well, that's good to hear. If I'm not mistaken system restore restores your programs, settings, registry changes etc to a previous point. Not pics, email or data.

BTW, the title is deceiving. It should read: "I messed up Avira, help" ;)
