Trying to update my virus definitions here.

Seems Avira is back to slow servers. Sitting now for around 15 Minutes. Bad Avira. You are going to loose customers.

    Sort yourselves out properly. Please.

Otherwise back to Avast for me.

Edit...was a temporary hitch. Been fine for 10 days now.

I noticed the last couple of days the update process has taken a little longer to connect to the servers, but it hasn't been fifteen minutes. I would say it has been taking anywhere from 30 seconds to a couple of minutes to connect as opposed to connecting almost instantly last month. I did notice yesterday and today that the file downloads are larger than normal so perhaps that's what is overloading the update servers.

Just an observation. Let's hope it's a temporary hiccup.

Edit...Yip, it was a temporary glitch. Thanks Avira.

Set updates to invisible daily and forget about it...plus you are using the free version. I'm sure the paid version has faster servers for updates...stop complaining for a free product or switch.

I have had no delays since switching to Avast. It still does a stupid 30 second memory check before scanning though. AVG was the worst.
