Whenever I plug my usb drive in I get a virus alert. I usally select deny access or delete but the virus keeps coming back everytime i plug it in.

I just scanned the drive with bitdefender online and it found nothing.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks.

If I remember correctly on the virus alert it should tell you exactly what the file/app. in question is. Sometimes it might be a trusted file/app you can just ignore it. If not then the Delete option should do the trick.

check the path to the "infected" file and delete it manually, unless its a false positive.

post the filename and path so we can help more.

Just send it to quarantaine, I had the same virus & it kept coming back when I denied it access. It actually IS a virus, I got infected in the copy shop when printing my Master dissertation from USB stick.

If it's a external HDD, scan it with another antimalware program but if it's an USB memorystick; format the darn thing.

Most likely that "autorun" file is hidden. I think it might be safe but you can delete or ignore it....I don't think its of any harm.

To see it you'll need to enable "Show hidden files and protected system files". Control Panel --> Folder Options under the "View" tab. So you'll need to also take out the check on "Hide protected......"

I tried your suggestion. I still do not see the file. I checked show hidden and uncheck hide protectred. I've tried delete, quarantine, deny access but it still pops up.

Format your bloody USB Flash Drive.
I think the problem will gone automatically.
The Autorun.inf stuffs are very common viruses/spyware. However, it doesn't really slowdown or do a major harm on a System.

the virus reappeared when i run synctoy again.... and yes, after running the disinfector i created a fresh sync... i am wondering if the restore folders are used by synctoy and thus synctoy is causing the false positive - just a theory...
