I tried SteadyState to try and restrict a guest account and apparently it messed up my password protected log in screen. Uninstalling didn't help so I did a system restore. That fixed the log in screen but I guess since I didn't stop Avira before using system restore it messed up Avira, so I reinstalled. Next I disabled the start up screen and went to disable the pop up nag screen during updates quoted below.

I found two entries for avnotify. One "disallowed" and one "unrestricted".

I haven't got the pop up but is it safe to delete the "unrestricted" entry?

Do not modify registry my friend! When in doubt do a format of your operating system to be on the safe side from viruses! Good luck mate!

Yeah, since it's running fine, I'll leave it.
