I have use Avast free of and on for years on an number of notebooks, and i have always had connection problem in Firefox, I get messages like "The connection was reset" a dozen times a day.

It`s a pain in the ass.

    Anybody else affected.

I use Avast Pro on my Switch 10 (very small RAM usage) and have no such issues.
While it is not exactly the same product (it has firewall too) the AV engine is the same so I assume it would manifest itself too.
Does it add a FF add-on when it installs? See what happens if you disable it.

The reason i installed Avast was for the browser protection, I will disable it for a while and see how it goes.

I use uBlock addblocker, have you tried this one, could it be that? , then again i have only used this for a couple of months, I used addblock+ before that.

    Thanks

    John.

I have used uBlock only briefly, normally I use AdBlock as well. Disabling browser plugin does not disable Internet protection and those plugins are usually somewhat annoying contribute to larger RAM footprint (as if FF needs more of that) and sometimes cause browser instability, that's why I get rid of them as soon as I install an AV.

Just happened again while on NBR, with the Avast plugin disabled, I will disable uBlock and try again.

EDIT: Just got another "connection is reset" on NBR , I am using addplock plus

EDIT2: Just got the lest frequent "Content Encoding Error"

EDIT3: "The connection was reset" again, seems to happen a lot on NBR.
