    No you shouldn't run it together.
    I believe Avast! 5 would be much lighter on the RAM and CPU.. Detection is quite okay..

    I don't run them together because I found that I don't really need Ad-Aware Pro ever. I do use Avast! though and it has never let me down.

    Guys, thanks so much for the quick responses. I will stay with the free version of avast and keep the Ad-Aware in my downloads folder!

    You might as well replace Ad-aware with Malwarebytes (because it's better and faster).

    General rule is this: Use AV with an active protection at all times, and keep a separate scanner such as MBAM as an on-demand one.
