So I went for the free version of Ashampoo, it messed up XP and it seems to be out to mess up Vista too..

I`m getting 10-20% CPU usage from this idiotic program, can you guys recommend me another good Antivirus?
My copy of NOD32 is not compatible with Vista(thank you MS for that) and NOD32 kept me safe for the last 4 years...

Avira would be my first choice. Great scanner and active protection. I'd use Avast as a secondary scanner only and not install its active protection.

This thread should probably go into the Security and Anti-virus subforum.

Ok, rats, it was a red icon because the DB was out of date.
    It`s green now :D
NOD32 is my favourite once again.

Yeah, it's definitely worth getting the new version of NOD32 so you can run it on Vista. All is good once again :)

Given the fact Kaspersky and NOD32 are pretty much on the same level and I have not had any problems with Kaspersky working on my system (Vista Ultimate x64), I would suggest picking up a copy. I am, of course, assuming you don't mind spending some money.

Oh, yeah, this is about AV apps. LOL

I agree with THAANSA. Kaspersky and NOD are pretty hard to beat, but require a few bucks be spent - well worth the money, IMO.

I paid $39 dollars, too. The money was well-spent, IMO.

@eleron: Root beer? Now that's a rugged, manly drink, about on par with my macho mochas. LOL
