What anti-viruses work in Windows 7? I have McAfee on my Vista drive, but I don't partivularly want to stuff up an install because it's my last install allowed with the disc that I have. Also, I know of someone who had McAfee and it wouldn't work in Windows 7....

So basically, what I want to know is, will McAfee (Total Protection 2009) work in Windows 7?

And if not, what is a good alternative?

    Antivirus board?...

Sorry, but I'm fairly new here.

I can take this to the Windows 7 board if you want.

Have you reviewed the antivirus board (where the thread was moved to) to see what antivirus applications are compatible?

McAfee is the worst antivirus in the world! it makes your compuer very slow! and misses many viruses.....

I use NOD32, it is the lightest antivirus on the system, yet it remains the most secure!

but if you want a FREE antivir that is as good or even better sometimes than paid ones, download Avira Antivir! the best free antivirus

It seems Avira Antivir Personal 9 can't be use in Windows 7.
Windows 7 said "Avira Driver has been disabled due to it cause what instability of system blah blah".

McAffee slows down your PC far too much and needs too many resources.

I believe KIS (Kaspersky Internet Security) 2010 will work with Windows 7.

If you download the product from their site you shoul dbe able to run a tral for 30 days.
Performance increases significantly after the first full system scan.

Overall its a pretty light Suite - not interferring in use - at least for me and the people that Iknow who use it :)

Symantec is currently beta testing Norton Internet Security 2010. It is Win7 ready if you want to give it a shot.
