Did you disable it in the scanner configuration in AntiVir?

yes. i went into expert mode and under both scan and guard i disabled the acoustic sound... it went away for the guard but whenever i run a scan and something pops up, it still makes the same noise.

Try changing the Wave file that activates to something that does not make as much noise.

Reading the Avira forums, some folks were saying that after they changed the alert to a Wave file and then changed it back, they were not able to get an acoustic alert. Maybe that will work?

This is quite annoying indeed, especially when trying to run this when people are sleeping and I'm awake into the early lights of the morning fixing a clients computer.

I wish they's just make it easier to disable.

I just installed Avira last night and noticed it's not a simple click to do a few things like disabling the splash screen or the notify.exe ad when updating. The first needs a registry hack and rather than using adninistrater tools, I think I was able to disable the ad using CFP's D+ by removing the permission. D+ alerted, I allowed and the ad displayed during installation update. It doesn't display when applying a manual update but I'll have to wait until I get an auto update to know for sure

Hmmm although I could manually updated it possible denying with D+ notify.exe may have been preventing Antivir from auto updating.

Well to be honest, that's because we aren't supposed to get rid of those nag screens. We're just lucky there's a relatively easy work around.

I realize that, but if I can't stop the screen I'm switching to Avast, which has more features. If I can stop the screen and it's as good as they say, I'll more likely recommend them.
