    Yes, it's best if you do. The Windows operating system is quite prone to viruses/malware, especially if you're not careful with opening your e-mails.

    I have been using antivirus software from SYMANTEC for the past 8 years
    and i've never got a virus on my comp.Besides i am careful on the kind of
    stuff i download.

    of course you do. that and common sense (don't click everything what tells you "click me"). you will find many hints if you look into the proper subforum, i'm personally using AVG.

    It's not the cheapest though.

    Yeah it is suggested to get it, no matter which version you have. Your always liable to catching something no matter how secure the OS is stated to be.

    I think its something called Murphy's law...
    If you have virus software as a normal user you never get a virus.
    If you haven't any as a normal user, you'll get one...

    (Normal user = user not doing something especially virus prone)
