    Hey guys,

So I haven't had a virus in probably 10 years and just my luck now I got one. Just my luck. However I've never used any anti virus software other than what windows comes with. So I guess I should start using something now.

Anyway, every time I click on anything online I immediately get a new window opened with some spam or "VIRUS DETECTED DOWNLOAD SOLUTION HERE". And my computer seems to be choking once in a while, just freezes for 4-5 seconds at a time. How do I get rid of this? I can't even remember the last time I had a virus so I have no idea how to get rid of one.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

EDIT: Now alot of text in my browser becomes links and ads are poping up all over the place and my computer is freezing more and more often...

Sounds like pretty typical malware infection.

Some free programs that get rid of it are:

    Rkill
    ADWcleaner
    Combofix
    Malwarebytes

start with Rkill. It will try and terminate malware that is running so that you can run the other anti-malware programs.

Next go with either ADW or Combofix or both.
Malwarebytes is also good, I usually save that for last.

you can download them safely for free here:

Thanks so much. I ended up using Panda and malwarebytes before you replied. I'll do Rkill and ADW now just to make sure everything is gone. Thanks again.
